Est. 2017 Nine years above the treeline

We've peaked, and the view is good.

Culmen attigimus et prospectus est bonus

Peak View opened thirty years after the school down the valley and has spent every one of them being told it is the new one. We are. That is the point. The ram on our seal holds the key, and the key fits every door on this mountain.

Learning

Three altitudes of study.

We do not run departments. We run altitudes - basecamp, ridge and summit - and a pupil moves between them by demonstrating they can, not by turning another year older.

01 / BASECAMP

Foundations, taught properly

Reading, numeracy, argument and the ability to sit still with a hard problem for longer than feels comfortable. No shortcuts, no streaming, no telling a fourteen-year-old what they are not.

What basecamp covers

02 / RIDGE

Where the specialism starts

Environmental science, structural design, data, languages and the performing arts. The compass rose on our seal points at all four faculties, which was either careful design or a very lucky accident.

Ridge subjects

03 / SUMMIT

Independent work, defended in public

Every leaver ships something real and stands in front of the school to defend it. It is the single hardest thing we ask, and the only part of the programme no pupil has ever asked us to drop.

Summit projects

Campus

Built into the slope, not on top of it.

Glasshouse

The Observation Deck

Glass on three sides and the valley on all of them. Nobody has ever needed to be told to be quiet in here.

Field

The Ridge Labs

Weather station, water sampling and a soil archive going back to the year the school opened. The data is public.

The Long Table

One room, one very long table, everybody eats at the same time. It is the best decision this school has ever made.

Visit

"They have had thirty extra years and they still have not beaten us. At some point that stops being a young school's luck and starts being the result."
Nina Vale, Class of '21 - Rams captain
